With an investment of 4 million RMB, the 2,000-square-meter experimental center of Biological and Pharmaceutical Engineering School has built five experimental teaching platforms for basic chemistry experiments, pharmaceutical experiments, chemical engineering experiments, bio-pharmacy experiments and large equipment testing, which can meet the demand of experimental teaching of different majors in Biological and Pharmaceutical Engineering School. At the same time, comprehensive services for students’ technological innovation and teachers' scientific research are provided.

According to the orientation of applied talents cultivation, in line with the concept of “enhancing fundamental skills, strengthening comprehensive application, showing professional features", the center sets up an experimental teaching system with distinctive "five sections" for chemical and pharmaceutical major. Based on the cultivation for core experimental skills, the integrative, three-level and open experimental teaching mode is carried out to comprehensively cultivate students' experimental and operational skills, professional experimental ability and innovative ability. The center’s open management mode serves students in graduation thesis writing, scientific and technological research, and hence improving students' comprehensive practical ability. The center also pays attention to the integration of production and learning, cooperation between school and enterprise, teaching materials construction and combination of experimental content and practical application.

Concentrating on teachers’ training, the center cultivates teachers' comprehensive quality through various ways. The experimental center now has seven teachers with master's degree and above, or intermediate professional titles, the double-certificated teachers accounting for 50%. The teachers have compiled 2 applied experimental textbooks, 8 new experimental handouts, revised 1 experimental handout, and published 16 research papers on teaching materials, and have intended to publish a textbook. Besides, they have participated in scientific research at all levels and quality engineering projects (8 people), and have been awarded 3 first prize and 2 third prize in teaching achievement award, 2 excellent teaching quality award, 1 "best teacher" and 2 "excellent teacher".
