Recently, the National Art & Design Teachers Teaching Innovation Contest (NDTC) has ended. Three courses of School of Art & Design and Communication of HXIT won two first prizes which were promoted to the national final competition and one second prize in the Hubei province competition. It is reported that the competition set up a total of 29 divisions, and many universities and colleges participated in the competition.

The two courses that won the first prizes in the Hubei province competition are Packaging Design and Residential Space Design. Packaging Design is one of the first national first-class undergraduate courses of social practice. It promotes the development of local rural economy through packaging design planning and practice. Residential Space Design is a first-class undergraduate course at the university level. Based on practical design projects, the course truly realized the connection between design education and design posts. Toy Design, which won the second prize, is a first-class course of social practice at provincial level, which integrates the system of "production-learning-research-innovation-competition" into teaching. It promotes the close integration of ideological and political education, professional education, aesthetic education and social service, and guide students to understand society better.
In recent years, taking the establishment of first-class major and first-class curriculum as an opportunity, HXIT insists on promoting establishment by evaluation, and promotes teachers to think deeply in the course objectives, teaching objectives, learning situation analysis, teaching design and makes great efforts to improve the establishment of course connotation.
