On March 22, the Expert Group on University Competition Evaluation and Management System Research of the China Association of Higher Education released the "2022 National General College Student Competition Analysis Report", and HXIT was shortlisted for the 2018-2022 National College Student Competition List of New Undergraduate Colleges (TOP100), which is the exclusive private-funded university selected in Hubei Province.

HXIT attaches great importance to the cultivation of college students' innovation and entrepreneurship ability, and with the full cooperation of relevant units, each school gives full play to the advantages of discipline characteristics, and actively participates in high-level discipline professional competitions—"Internet+" College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, "Challenge Cup" National College Students Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Works Competition, National College Students Mechanical Innovation Design Competition, China College Students Engineering Practice and Innovation Ability Competition, China Educational Robot Competition, National College Students Intelligent Car Competition, National College Students Advertising Art Competition, National College Students Metallographic Skills Competition, China College Students Computer Design Competition and other competitions have won special prizes, first prizes and other excellent results in many times, and the results in the competition rankings have risen year by year. HXIT has a remarkable effect on cultivating students about the innovation and entrepreneurship competition. In the past five years, students have won more than 1,900 awards at the provincial level and above, with more than 5,600 students.

HXIT incorporates the college student competition into the school's talent training system, integrates it into daily teaching activities, adheres to promoting learning, teaching and innovation through competition, expands the ways for students to participate in innovation training, and cultivates a cultural atmosphere of innovation and entrepreneurship. It is reported that since the China Association of Higher Education launched the "University Competition Evaluation and Management System Research" project in February 2017, it has released seven consecutive rounds of lists, which is the first ranking list focusing on the training of innovative talents and discipline competition results in colleges and universities in China, and is an important way to test the quality of talent training in colleges and universities. Since its release, the list has received great attention from the society which is also currently one of the most influential discipline competition evaluation systems in China.
