Recently, the results of the semi-final of the fourth "Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press Cup" Nationwide Intercollegiate Cross-Cultural Capability Contest in Hubei Province were announced. HXIT’s team attained the second prize in the Chinese student group.

The contest was judged by video. Led by instructors Liu Xiao and Yan Nan from the School of Foreign Languages, three students from HXIT, Chen Yumeng from English Major,Tian Jincheng and Qian Jiashen from Computer Major, formed a team ,wrote, directed and performed an original short play on the theme of "Business Communication", presenting communication styles, trust building and cultural orientation differences in cross-cultural business scenarios. And use relevant theories to analyze the case.For the final entry,after an open, fair and impartial review by the cross-cultural teaching expert panel, the second prize was awarded.

Instructor Liu Xiao pointed that HXIT’s students demonstrated their comprehensive language application ability, cross-cultural sensitivity and adaptability, as well as their innovative ability to solve problems in multicultural situations with unique creativity, agile thinking, standard pronunciation and tacit cooperation, reflecting the level of English teaching and the quality of talent cultivation in HXIT.

Founded in 2018,the "Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press Cup" Nationwide Intercollegiate Capability Contest was included in the "Analysis Report of National College Students' Competitions" of the China Association of Higher Education in 2023 as one of only three foreign language contests among 84 national subject contests. A total of 171 contestants from first-rated universities in Hubei province participated in this year's regional division.
