School of Information Engineering now has seven undergraduate programs including Computer Science and Technology, Software Engineering, Internet of Things Engineering, Communications Engineering, Electronic Information Engineering, Measurement and Control Technology and Instrument, and Automation, with nearly 1800 students, and among which, Information and Communication Engineering is a key discipline of the “12th Five-Year Plan” in Hubei Province. With rich teaching resources, School of Information Engineering has 84 full-time teachers and most of them have received Doctor’s or Master’s Degree from universities titled with 985 and 211. There is a batch of professors and experts from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan University, Wuhan University of Technology, etc. Over 30% of the teachers are with senior professional titles. The teaching team has undertaken many provincial and ministerial-level or school-enterprise cooperation projects.

The experimental center of the Information Engineering Schoool is equipped with 30 specialized laboratories including laboratories of electronics inelectricalengineering, electronic technology, computer network, mobile communication, Internet of things, embedded system, communication principle, intelligent instrument, etc. and 4 extracurricular innovation training rooms. Over 40 off-campus practice and training bases and Outsourcing Service Talent Training Bases of Hubei Province have been established to guarantee the students’ practical training and job finding.

School of Information Engineering designs the curriculum system according to the thought of "the integration of theoretical knowledge and skill elements, the connection of practical teaching and industrial background" , and the idea of "knowledge and skills being permeated in the profession posts" will be carried out in the classroom teaching and various practical links. It also relies on advanced technology, complete set of equipment, and open and independent experimental sites to strengthen the practical application abilities of students. On the basis of "second classrooms" such as the Blue Bridge Cup Association, Mathematical Modeling Association, Electronic Design Association, Robots Association and Entrepreneurship Association and the participation in various competitions such as National Undergraduate ElectronicDesign Contest, China Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling and China Education Robot Contest, etc. the students have won many awards at provincial and national levels and also received many media coverage.

In recent years, more than 260 students have been admitted to Tsinghua University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Whuhan University, Wuhan University of Technology and other well-known key universities to continue their studies. The average employment rate of graduates has remained stable at above 92 percent, and the one-time employment rate has reached 94.25 percent in 2017.
