School of Civil Engineering offers four undergraduate programs including Civil Engineering, Urban and Rural Planning and Project Cost, Urban and Rural Planning and Project Cost (distinctive majors), among which Civil Engineering is the head program in WHUT. At present, there are more than 1300 students in our school. The school has a strong faculty team of 58 full-time teachers, including 7 professors, 23 associate professors and 4 senior engineers. The entire teacher have obtained their master degree, most of which graduated from domestic key universities.

Our school boasts of 5 laboratories of Mechanics, Architectural Structure, Civil Engineering Materials, Soil Mechanics and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, and 5 practical training rooms for Building Model Making, Engineering Measurement, Project Management Sand Table Simulation, Civil Engineering Simulation and BIM center. It has cooperated with more than 20 enterprises to establish an off-campus internship and training base, such as China Second National Nuclear Company, Wuhan south China Construction Co. LTD., and the Second Aviation Bureau of China communications co. LTD., and jointly opened directional training classes with Hubei Sentai Construction Group and Wuhan Tianchangle Co. LTD., aiming at comprehensively cultivating students' practical application ability.

The School attaches great importance to cultivate students’ scientific and technological innovation ability. Our students have won many prizes in competitions at provincial and national levels, such as High Education Cup of National Graphics Contest, Hubei Structure Design Contest”, among of which 9 first prizes, 30 second prizes, 13 third prizes and 15 patents have been awarded in recent years.

In recent years, our graduates are widely accepted in society. The employment rate g keeps over 90% in continuous 4 years and the postgraduate enrollment rate is over 13%. In 2016 , our school signed an agreement on joint training and source base for postgraduates with Hubei University of Technology, creating favorable conditions for their further studies .

1.Civil Engineering (Architectural Engineering, Road and Bridge Engineering) (undergraduate)

Platform courses: Architectural Drawing, Engineering Surveying, Theoretical Mechanics, Material Mechanics, Structural Mechanics, Civil Engineering Materials, Soil Mechanics, Basic Engineering, Building Architecture, Engineering Geology, Steel Structure Design Principle, Concrete Structure Design Principle

Major courses in Architectural Engineering: Concrete Structure Design, Masonry Structure Design, Steel Structure Design, Civil Engineering Construction, Structure Construction and Construction Drawing for Plane Integration Expression Method

Major courses in Road and Bridge Engineering: Road Survey and Design, Subgrade and Pavement Engineering, Bridge Engineering, Road and Bridge Engineering Construction.

After graduation, students can be engaged in work covering various construction engineering design, road and bridge engineering design, engineering construction and management, engineering consulting, real estate development and management, engineering budget.

2.Urban and Rural Planning (Digital City and BIM Technology Direction) (undergraduate)

Main courses: Architectural Preliminary Design, Architectural Design, Principles of Urban and Rural Planning, Urban Design, Urban Road and Traffic, Planning and Design of Residential Area, Planning and Design of Landscape Architecture, Detailed Urban Planning and Design, Overall Urban Planning and Design, 3S Technology and Application, BIM Application Technology, etc.

This major is in short supply in civil engineering, emphasizing students' abilities in design, drawing and management, and training both traditional manual drawing and modern computer drawing, design drawing skills and planning management.

After graduation, students can work in urban and rural planning and design institute, architectural design institute, land and resources and planning management department, garden department, real estate company, designer office and other units, engaged in urban planning, architecture and landscape design and related management work.

3. Engineering Cost (undergraduate)

Main courses: Principles of Management, Architectural Drawing, Architectural Mechanics, Engineering Construction Laws and Regulations, Engineering Economics, Engineering Project Management, Engineering Cost Planning and Control, Construction Engineering Evaluation, Engineering Cost Management, Installation Engineering Evaluation, Application of Engineering Cost Software, etc.

After graduation, students can engage in work covering engineering investment consulting services, engineering budget and settlement, engineering bidding and tendering, infrastructure finance and auditing, etc. in construction units, design units, construction enterprises, engineering consulting companies, real estate evaluation institutions, financial institutions, relevant government departments and scientific research institutes.

4.Engineering Management (undergraduate)

Main courses: Architectural Drawing, Architectural Mechanics, Civil Engineering Materials, Engineering Structure, Engineering Economics, Engineering Project Management, Engineering Contract Management, Engineering Evaluation, Management Information System, International Engineering Contract Management, Engineering Cost Planning and Control, Civil Engineering Construction, Construction Organization, etc.

After graduation, students can be engaged in work covering engineering construction management, engineering consulting, bidding and tendering, engineering budget, project management, engineering management, international engineering management, real estate development and other work in the national and local construction management departments.
