The School of Biological and Pharmaceutical Engineering has three undergraduate specialties including Pharmaceutical Engineering, Chemical Engineering & Technology and Biopharmaceuticals, and Pharmaceutical Engineering (Quality Control of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Pharmaceutical Management). In 2016, the school was approved by Hubei Ministry of Education to jointly train postgraduate students majoring in Traditional Chinese Medicine with Hubei University of Chinese Medicine. As a University-level brand specialty, Pharmaceutical Engineering is also a pilot project of “Comprehensive Reform of Specialties” in Hubei’s undergraduate universities. And Biopharmaceuticals the specialty is one of the “Talent Cultivation Projects for Strategic Emerging Pillar Industry in Hubei Province”.

The school owns an excellent professional teaching team with 28 full-time teachers from prestigious and world-known universities like USC, Wuhan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology， China Medical University，Wuhan University of Technology , etc. ,also Human well Healthcare Group，Hubei Academy of pharmaceutical industry, Hubei Research Academy of Chemistry. Among these teachers, there are 3 professions, 5 associate professions and 13 ones with intermediate professional titles. There are 86% teachers with master or doctor degree and 40% with the dual- quality title. Our teachers have successfully applied and conducted 5 programs supported by Provincial Education, 15 programs by Education Department of WHUT, and we have 4 university-level excellent teaching programs. Besides, teachers have published more than 100 academic papers, including 15 papers collected by SCI, EI and Core Journals of Peking University.

In order to strengthen students’ practical ability, the school implements the characteristic training mode of combining production and study in each specialty--“3-year theoretical study plus 1-year practice”. The school is also equipped with 10 laboratories, involving inorganic chemistry, analytic chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, principles of chemical industry, modern instrument, pharmaceutical engineering, pharmaceutical preparation engineering, bio-pharmaceutical and chemical engineering and technology. It has established a close relationship with Human Well Healthcare Co.Ltd, Wuxi App Tec Group, Ma Yinglong Pharmaceutical Group. and etc. Over 20 off-campus training bases have been set up. Students have won the first, second and third prizes many times in various contests, such as the National College of Pharmaceutical Engineering Design Competition, National College Students' chemical design competition, and College Students' Chemistry Experiment Skills Competition in Hubei and etc. They have published 8 papers, owned 3 patents, and proceeded 2 starting-up projects.
