The School of Intelligent Manufacturing (combined by the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and the School of Automotive Engineering) is a school of science and technology with distinctive characteristics and outstanding academic disciplines. It is the first batch of “National Party Construction Work Benchmarking Department” project unit and a school-level pilot college. Five undergraduate majors including Mechanical Design and Manufacturing and Automation (machine-based), Material Forming and Control Engineering (forming), Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (electromechanical), Vehicle Engineering (vehicle), and Automotive Service Engineering (automobile service) Featured professional cluster key construction plan. Among them: The molding and vehicle majors are the "first-class professional" construction points of undergraduate colleges in Hubei Province. The vehicles and machines have been awarded the "Jingchu Excellent Talents" Collaborative Education Program (Jingchu Excellence Engineer) in Hubei Province's ordinary undergraduate colleges, mechanical design, manufacturing and automation. The department was awarded the “Excellent Grassroots Teaching Organization” by Hubei Provincial Higher Education. There are more than 1900 students in the school, 110 teachers, including 14 professors, 44 associate professors, 1 master teacher in Hubei Province, 4 master teachers in our university, and 1 outstanding young and middle-aged science and technology innovation team in Hubei Province.
The college adheres to the "student-centered" and "original-oriented", and cultivates high-quality applied intelligent manufacturing technology talents through various methods such as ordinary college entrance examination, skill college entrance examination, and college entrance examination. In order to promote the development of students' personality, the college enrolls students in the major categories of machinery, and professional diversion and streams after the third semester. In addition, the college and the relevant universities and research institutes jointly train professional postgraduates, and carry out international cooperation and exchanges with universities and enterprises in the United States, Britain and Japan to guide students to overseas employment and further study.
The college has a complete set of intelligent manufacturing technology comprehensive training center and Mechanical Innovation, Electromechanical Synthesis, Numerical Control Technology, 3D Printing, Molding Technology, New Energy Vehicles, Automotive Detection and Diagnosis, Automotive Electronics and Control, and other 32 laboratories. There are 75 off-campus internships, training bases such as Dongfeng Motor, China Zhengtong and China Life Insurance and Tuhu on-campus internship training bases. Jointly established with the enterprise, intelligent manufacturing technology, modern tool manufacturing technology, new welding material technology, new steel-plastic composite pipe technology, automotive collaborative innovation center, Huaxia New Energy Automotive Technology Research Institute and other research and development centers to achieve science and education integration, production and education Fusion. The school focuses on developing students' sense and ability of innovation. In recent years, students won 68 national awards and 162 provincial awards in the National Machinery Innovation Design Competition, "Creating Youth" National College Student Entrepreneurship Competition, College Students Mathematical Modeling Competition, College Students' Energy Saving and Emission Reduction Social Practice and Technology Competition, Formula Racing, NXP Smart Car Design, 3D Digital Innovation Design Competition and other various competitions, and has obtained 119 national invention patents and new utility patents.
Previous graduates have been widely welcomed and praised by the society. In recent years, the average employment rate has exceeded 95%, and nearly 60 people have successfully started their own businesses. The admission rate of the postgraduate entrance examination is stable at around 12%, of which more than 190 people have been admitted to the domestic “985” and “211” key universities and foreign famous universities for further study; One student was named the fifth “Changjiang Student” outstanding university graduate in Hubei Province; Sixteen graduates were selected as one of the top 50 outstanding alumni in the school.
