1. Organization and faculty
Physical Education Department is established in 2011 functioning as a physical teaching unit directly under the administration of WuHan Huaxia University of Technology. It is fully responsible for the construction of leisure sports major, the physical education, students' physical fitness test and the sports activities of all the faculty members and students. The Physical Education Department has department of leisure sports, department of public physical education, physical fitness test and group competition center and administration office. There are 36 teachers, including three professors and eight associate professors, among which there is a second grade professor who enjoys the State Council Special Allowance and two lecture professors from WuHan Sports University and physical education department of Central China Normal University.
2. Facilities and Course Construction
The school is fully equipped with sports facilities, such as basketball gym, table tennis, badminton gym, gymnasium, body-building gym, yoga club. There are standardized basketball arena, volleyball court, tennis court, plastic playground and the first rowing base run by private college in the province. The school was well equipped with teaching training facilities, what's more, it co-founded with Dangdai Physical Education "Dangdai teaching practice base of youth". After many years' course construction and reform, department of leisure sports now has established many specialized courses combined with theory and practice. Department of public sport course has established public basic courses for freshmen and optional courses for sophomores. Freshmen's public basic courses include theory course and practice course, such as girls’ center on aerobic exercise, such as running, social dancing, body-building, aerobics, basic theory knowledge of sports and sports health care. Subjects, such as basketball, football, running and jumping, are for boys. The sports courses for sophomore mainly include football, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, tennis, wushu, athletics, body-building, aerobic dancing, Latin dancing, international dancing and yoga, and some practice courses, relevant sports theory knowledge, sports health knowledge and many kinds of optional courses for juniors and seniors.
3. Talent Cultivation
There are eight sports teams in our department: men’s football team, girls’ football team, basketball team, track team, sports dance group, aerobics team, yoga team, as well as rowing team. They have achieved outstanding results in the competitions at municipal, provincial and national levels. They’ve won more than 520 prizes, with 2321 participants. In the meantime, with systematic and assiduous training in school teams, masses of talents have been cultivated and several talents who are not PE majors entered into sports field. The following are some examples. Du Xincheng, served as captain of the football team during school years, has been admitted to sports teaching major in Physical Department of CUG as postgraduate. Zhang Dingbin, served as captain of the football team during school years, worked as a coach at V-Hi football training center in Wuhan, Hubei in 2016.Then, he was employed in Bud Football Club of Shengshi Sports Co. Ltd in Xiamen in 2017. Xiao Mengyuan, participated in yoga team during school years, was admitted to sports management major in Jimei University, Xiamen in 2018 as a post graduate.
4.Speciality
To meet with the market demand for leisure sports major, our college extensively carries out school-enterprise cooperation. We have signed the cooperation agreement with many national professional sports companies like Dangdai Education、Dangdai Sports Education 、Desports、Hanwei Sports that are affiliated to Dangdai Group and some social companies like TLSS and Handong Blue Sea, and invited several famous experts in sports as guest professors to give lectures regularly. Meanwhile, our department cooperates with many high-end quality resources such as Spanish Granada Football Club 、Italian Parma Football Club 、NBA Minnesota Timberwolves、Chongqing Dangdai Lifan Football Club. We insist on cooperating with enterprises, meeting the market demand and focusing on the enterprise characteristics, and center on the cultivation of professional talents in football and physical intelligence training for children and youth、sports events planning and operation 、sports camp construction, devoting ourselves to cultivating application-oriented sports talents in the industry chain of sports and leisure、event operation and sports training.
5. Employment channels
After graduation, excellent students can enter into the internallylisted sports industry company of Dangdai Group. And they can engage in sports services and security, Sports Fitness and guidance, eventsoperation and planning and other aspects of the work in the leisure town, sports industry companies, outdoor development training institutions, sports tourism companies, sports complex, government sports management departments, institutions of higher learning, primary and secondary schools, kindergartens and other units.
6. Sports teaching and research
In recent years, the faculty members have published 90 research papers in total. Among them, five have been published on the three major overseas retrieval papers, three papers on the core journals, one paper has won the first prize of the science paper meeting, two papers have won the second prize of the related project of science paper meeting; teachers have presided
7. provincial-level teaching and research projects and 23 university-level teaching and research projects; Six textbooks and five books have been published.
Physical Education Department persists in the educational reform and serving for students’ fitness. With completing the physical education teaching, the department vigorously develops the service of group activities. The department, School youth league committee student union, SNE-Sup and other departments jointly promote mass sports activities in the college. They advocate self-service and self-management in group activities. Moreover, the Physical Education Department extensively carries out mass sports activities all year round, such as school sports, basketball league, football league, sports competitions between departments and more than a dozen mass sports activities, which play an important role in making students healthier and stronger.

Physical Education Department highlights professional construction and simultaneously combines theory with practice.In order to provide applied talents for enterprisesand society, the department emphasizes the college-enterprise cooperation and fosters students’ practical ability. Thedepartmenttries to realize in-class and after-class integration, so that students can have better physical and mental health. Besides, the department deepens educational reform, extrudes teaching characteristics and strongly strengthensteaching staff construction.
