The experimental center of Civil Engineering School covers an area of 1500 square meters, consisting of 8 laboratories for mechanics, civil engineering materials, soil mechanics, engineering measurement, architectural model making, architectural structure, sand table simulation of project management and civil engineering simulation. These form an intramural experimental platform made up of professional basic experimental platform, specialized experimental platform as well as characteristic and innovative experimental platform, providing a good experimental environment to cultivate applied technique-oriented talents.
The center has 6 full-time laboratory teachers, among whom 3 have intermediate and senior technical titles (50%), and 8 experimental teachers, among whom are 1 professor and 3 associate professors (teachers who have senior professional titles take up 50%).
With excellent equipment and facilities as well as complete hardware and software, the center integrates professional basic experiment, comprehensive designing experiment as well as open and innovative experiment together. Undertaking the experimental course of mechanics of the whole school as well as the experimental courses, practical training and internship of students who major in civil engineering, engineering management and urban-rural planning, the center plays an essential part in strengthening students’ theoretical cognition and fostering their engineering capacities such as measuring and testing. Meanwhile, it sets a teaching and training platform for the students’ curriculum design, graduation project and various competitions.
Adhering to the educational philosophy of “cultivation of students as the essence, and good quality as the priority”, the center aims at improving students’ innovative and practical ability. Furthermore, it gives equal importance to theoretical and experimental teaching, combines the improving of innovative spirit and the cultivation of practical ability and integrates intramural training with off-campus practice effectively, offering excellent service for the students, teachers and society with great enthusiasm.
