Chen Jun, Students counselor of Art&Design and Media School of HXIT, has been awarded the Outstanding Individual Award at the 14th China Youth Volunteer Awards, marking HXIT's first recipient of this prestigious honour. Chen Jun has not only achieved remarkable success in the field of education, but also stands out as an exemplary figure in voluntary service.

As the Chairman of the Zhiyin Volunteer Service Centre in Hanyang District, Wuhan, Chen Jun has dedicated himself to voluntary service for an extended period. Leading a team of volunteers, he has made outstanding contributions to projects benefiting underprivileged youth, intangible cultural heritage preservation, and youth art education. His initiative, the “Under the Hanyang Tree, Growing with You” project, has donated and established the “Chen Jun ‘Hope’ Library” in the mountainous areas of Guizhou, injecting new vitality into the local education sector.

During the pandemic, Chen Jun responded promptly, rallying young volunteers to participate in frontline medical assistance for Wuhan's families and youth support activities. He organised support pairs for 89 groups, making a significant contribution to society. Additionally, he led a students team to conduct public welfare art classes and intangible cultural heritage activities in Wuhan communities, benefiting over 70,000 young people.

Chen Jun's philanthropic deeds have garnered high praise from society, earning him many honorary titles. His story has been featured on the CCTV Finance and Economics New Media and the "Youth 100 Seconds" video series, attracting broader attention to his spirit of dedication.

Chen Jun has played an actively promoting role in the construction of the voluntary service culture on HXIT. HXIT attaches great importance to voluntary service, providing students with a rich platform for voluntary activities, encouraging youth to actively participate, inherit the spirit of volunteerism, and cultivate core socialist values.
