Recently, to cultivate students’ awareness of labor, enhance their practical skills, and support well-rounded development, HXIT established a Labor Education Practice Base at Shili Lianhua Yangxin Valley in Caidian District. Over 3,000 students from the Class of 2024 were invited to participate in hands-on labor education activities held in successive groups.
On October 20th, HXIT held the opening ceremony for the Labor Education Practice Base at Shili Lianhua Yangxin Valley. Key participants included Vice President Li Cai, and corporate representatives such as Chairman Yu Xiangmin from Wuhan Hexiangyuan Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. Together, they inaugurated the new practice base with an official plaque-unveiling ceremony.
In the fields, students participated in a range of hands-on projects guided by professional instructors, such as crop harvesting, exploring intangible cultural heritage, and processing agricultural products and students learned from their teachers about various crops, including rice, sweet potatoes, and peanuts. They practiced rice harvesting techniques, dug for sweet potatoes, and learned how to unearth peanuts—all while gaining a deeper appreciation for the challenges of farming.
In the herbal tie-dye workshop, students explored traditional techniques, creating handkerchiefs with unique designs and discovering the art of this intangible cultural heritage. They also engaged in traditional tofu production, from grinding soybeans to tasting fresh soy milk, experiencing both the joy and the satisfaction of their labor.
Throughout these activities, students showed great enthusiasm and initiative. They learned teamwork, cooperation, and respect for labor, growing to appreciate the results of hard work while strengthening their collaboration skills.
Zhang Li, Executive Vice Dean of HXIT’s Marxism Department, noted that labor education is a critical component of higher education. The “Labor Education Practice” course is offered by HXIT’s Marxism Department, and this activity was co-organized by the "Lixing Huaxia" Labor Education Counselor Studio.
