On March 23rd, the 2025 Wuhan Marathon kicked off in Wuhan.Nearly 40,000 runners from 67 countries and regions participated in the race. Nearly 300 teachers and student volunteers from HXIT were deployed to various posts, becoming a beautiful sight on the track.

At four o'clock in the morning, before the sky was even bright, the volunteers had already gathered and took a bus to their destination. After arriving, they quickly formed groups and cooperated tacitly. The tasks such as moving drinks and setting up the supply stations were carried out in an orderly manner.

Along the running track, the volunteers of HXIT set up several supply stations at equal intervals, providing participating runners with timely supplies such as sports drinks, energy gels, and cooling sponges, and cheering for the runners with warm smiles and heartfelt encouragement. In addition, 247 official volunteers organized by HXIT were responsible for key tasks such as chip timing and material supply. In order to ensure the quality of service, HXIT held a special training session in advance. This year, HXIT cooperated with the Youth League Committee of Hanyang District for the first time, selecting 42 teachers and students to be responsible for the cheerleading and civilized guidance work in the Hanyang District section of the race, earning high appraisal from the Hanyang District government.

It is worth mentioning that Zhao Keyu from Class 1221 of Urban and Rural Planning voluntarily signed up and, after layers of selection, became a college student photographer for the Wuhan Marathon. She rushed to the scene at half past five in the morning and captured more than 800 warm moments of the event . She believes that the charm of a sports event lies in the fact that ordinary people light up the extraordinary moments of others with their passion.

Zhu Jingjie from Class 1249 of Accounting and Cheng Zitong from Class 1221 of Visual Communication were respectively responsible for the material supply at the 22.5-kilometer station and the chip timing work. They said that although the work was hard, they were able to witness the perseverance and hard work of the runners, gained profound understanding of the meaning of dedication and the weight of responsibility, and achieved a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment.

Pan Jing, the Secretary of HXIT’s Youth League Committee, spoke highly of the performance of the volunteers, praising them for performing their respective duties, escorting the event with enthusiasm and professionalism, fully demonstrating the demeanor of the teachers and students of HXIT and the spirit of volunteering, and infusing the sporting event with warmth and vitality.
