How to integrate traditional culture, ideological and political education and general education into life through engaging experiences? On May 8th, the library of HXIT was turned into a real-life scene of a Songstyle scholarly gathering, holding an immersive reading activity themed “Ancient Spirit, New Study · Scholarly Gathering”. Rooted in the Northern Song Jiayou-era imperial examination, teachers and students role-played ancient scholars and experienced the Six Arts—ritual, music, archery, charioteering, calligraphy and mathematics—with exclusive activity passes.

Six themed experience stations were set up on site. Students in ancient costumes served as guides and handed out passes, to participants. Staff at each station explained the meaning connotation and history of the Six Arts, and guided participants to complete tasks including ritual learning, musical rhythm practice, archery, poetry response, calligraphy copying and book inventory. Participants could redeem gifts with points on their passes, experiencing traditional culture in an enjoyable way.

Students shared that the activity calmed their minds and helped them understand the ancient virtue of respecting teachers and valuing learning, bringing unexpected rewards. Vice President Ding Chengzhong attended the activity, experienced archery and calligraphy, and communicated with teachers and students. Teachers commended the activity for its innovation and significance, which transforms ideological-political education and traditional culture from textbooks knowledge into tangible personal growth. It served as a vivid practice of integrating ideological education, general education and reading.

According to the organizer, the activity was cohosted by the school library, School of Marxism and School of General Education, and organized by the Daily Renewal Culture Studio. Focusing on lightweight immersive experience, it aimed to help students get close to traditional culture in a historical atmosphere, receive ideological guidance, and cultivate aspirations and a sense of responsibility from ancient wisdom.
