Recently, the judging of the propositional and non-propositional categories of the 7th Milan Design Week Chinese Universities Design Disciplines Outstanding Works Exhibition in the Hubei provincial competition has come to an end. The faculty and students from School of Art Design and Communication of HXIT achieved excellent performance in the competition, winning a total of 29 awards. Among them, they won one national first prize in the propositional category and three provincial first prizes, eight provincial second prizes and 17 provincial third prizes in the non-propositional category.
In the propositional category, the national first prizewinning work "You She Ji Chicken Super Cute Version"(authors: Cheng Siyi, Yin Xiong, instructor: Tong Yao) extended the original IP image with the characteristics of the IP combined with daily social life and through emoticon design, made the IP image of You She Ji chicken more closely integrated with daily life with more vitality.
In the non-propositional category of the Hubei provincial competition, the first prizewinning work "Graphical and Cultural Product Design of Yi Torch Festival" (author: Zhang Yuan, instructor: Tang Shi Yi) divided the graphics into three parts based on the unique activities during the festival and incorporated Yi ethnic culture, clothing style, religious rituals, and the worship spirit of Yi people towards fire, enriching the visual effect and showing strong ethnicity, uniqueness and practicality. It also embodies the original and simple beauty of the "Yi Torch Festival.”
In recent years, the School of Art Design and Communication of HXIT has attached great importance to nationwide design competitions. Through the guidance of "learning from competition, teaching from competition, researching from competition, and promoting reform with competition," teaching and methods have been improved, and students’ professional and practical abilities have been effectively enhanced. Meanwhile, it increases students’ confidence and creativity while enhancing the reputation and influence of HXIT design disciplines.
It is reported that "Milan Design Week Chinese Universities Design Disciplines Outstanding Works Exhibition" is an international information exchange platform aimed at promoting innovation in the cultivation of design talents in Chinese universities, providing international and high standard learning, exchange and exhibition platforms for excellent design majors in China, and promoting communication and progress of design education in China.
