At 9:59 a.m. on September 10, HXIT hosted the inauguration ceremony for its new campus at Wutong Lake. HXIT leaders, representatives of faculty, students and alumni, representatives from the construction contractor, and distinguished guests from various sectors of society were in attendance to witness this significant occasion, with Ding Dezhi presiding over the ceremony.
On behalf of the Wutong Lake Campus Construction Headquarters, Vice President Hu Shuibing extended his gratitude to all parties that had supported the new campus construction. He highlighted that the campus, formerly a site of fish ponds and paddy fields, was transformed into a modern academic complex in merely 316 days—a remarkable achievement dubbed the "Liangzi Speed." Spanning an area of 1,000 mu (approximately 66.67 hectares) and capable of accommodating nearly 10,000 faculty and students. HXIT has put over 30 "wellness-focused initiatives" into operation while reserving space for future development needs. Moving forward, in line with the established planning and positioning, HXIT will develop the campus into a benchmark project to underpin talent cultivation and the institute’s overall development.
Chairman Zhang Xiaodong delivered an address, in which he expressed appreciation to the supporters of the new campus. He emphasized that the inauguration of the new campus marks a milestone, a new starting point, and a "new engine" for HXIT's development. Looking ahead, HXIT will adhere to its core educational philosophy, further advance educational reforms, enhance the quality of its faculty team, promote industry-academia-research collaboration in talent development, and foster high-caliber talents. He called on all faculty and students to work in solidarity to build HXIT into a first-class application-oriented institute. Concluding his speech, he extended greetings to all faculty members in celebration of Teachers’ Day and invited alumni to visit their alma mater regularly.
Amid a solemn yet vibrant atmosphere, HXIT leaders, along with representatives of faculty and alumni, jointly pressed the inauguration button. Instantly, colored smoke soared into the sky, and waves of applause and cheers reverberated throughout the venue, elevating the ceremony to its climax. Subsequently, leaders and guests posed for a group photo in front of the inauguration platform to immortalize this historic moment. Following the ceremony, the guests were divided into six groups and, under the guidance of campus guides, toured key campus facilities including teaching buildings, canteens, and student dormitories. The campus infrastructure and overall environment received widespread acclaim.
