To deepen the integration of language studies with artificial intelligence and national security domains, and to broaden students' professional knowledge and international perspectives, the Huaxia Translation Studio held a lecture on March 6, 2025. The event featured Yin Baien, founder of the military think tank Zhiwu Defense, as the keynote speaker. It was hosted by Xiao Fenghua, Director of the Studio.

The lecture began with Xiao Fenghua briefly introducing the topic and framing the discussion around recent international events.
Mr.Yin then delved into the core theme—"The Application of Large Language Models and AI Platforms in Modern National Defense and Intelligence Fields." Drawing on current global security dynamics, he systematically outlined the operational applications of artificial intelligence in areas such as target recognition, intelligence analysis, command decision-making, and information warfare. Through real-world case studies, he compared the similarities and differences between domestic and international approaches to AI technology deployment.
He also offered an in-depth analysis of the operational principles, technical characteristics, application advantages, and potential risks associated with large language models (LLMs). Particular attention was given to key technological limitations—including the hallucination problem, algorithmic black box, and data bias—which helped students develop a clearer understanding of both the capabilities and boundaries of AI.
Drawing on his professional background, Mr.Yin then introduced the practical applications of language studies in fields such as defense intelligence, open-source information research, data compilation, and domain analysis. This provided students majoring in English and other language-related disciplines with valuable insights into their academic pursuits and future career trajectories. During the interactive session, students actively raised questions on topics ranging from AI ethics and LLM development trends to international security situations and career prospects for language majors. He responded to each query patiently, fostering a lively and engaging atmosphere.
Students who attended the lecture noted that it not only expanded their academic horizons but also reinforced their sense of responsibility and mission to contribute to national development through their professional expertise.
